Christ Church, Presbyterian is a new reformed congregation in the C.S.R.A., a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
The church began formally with 167 Charter Members in August, 2004. At that time the congregation was meeting in the sanctuary of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
In October, 2004, Dr. Gordon Reed accepted the congregation's call to become the founding Pastor of the church, and was joined shortly thereafter by Mark Nabholz, Minister of Music and Congregational Life, and Laura Doss, Organist.
In October, 2004, the congregation began worshiping in the facilities of the First Baptist Church of Evans, a congregation that graciously hosted us until May of 2007.
In 2005 the church purchased 12.5 acres of land at the corner of Fury's Ferry Road and Southern Pines Drive, for the construction of a church facility.
On Sunday morning, January 22, 2006 a brief groundbreaking ceremony was held at the site. Over 160 members and friends of the congregation attended, despite threat of rain. The ceremony began with the singing of "The Church's One Foundation," and included responsive reading of appropriate Scripture passages, and prayer, led by Dr. Reed.
Site preparation for the 12,000 square foot, 450-seat sanctuary building began in May, 2006. On May 13, 2007, the first services were held in the completed facility!
On Thursday, March 27, 2008 the final steps were completed and our entrance into the Savannah River Presbytery of the PCA was finalized.
On Sunday, June 22, 2008, Dr. W. Duncan Rankin was installed as Pastor. Dr. Terry Johnson of Independent Presbyterian Church, Savannah, preached, and Dr. George Robertson of First Presbyterian Church, Augusta, presided.
